Contributing to the inclusion of Iraqi Christian asylum seekers present in Jordan, particularly in Amman, is the goal of the project, which began in April 2021 and is funded by the Italian Episcopal Conference (CEI) through the 8 x mille funds allocated to the Catholic Church.

In collaboration with the Catholic University of the Sacred Heart in Milan, training courses on inclusive education were promoted for Iraqi teachers, counselors and families, and in collaboration with Gemelli Medical Center medical and psychological screening of minors with “special needs” and health education courses for women were held.

Specifically, the following activities were carried out during the project:

• –Renovation and redevelopment of a building converted into amultipurpose center as a reception and meeting place for project activities.
• –Training courseson innovative teaching methodologies and inclusive education for teachers and counselors of schools of the Latin Patriarchate of Jerusalem in Amman.
• –Health educationpathwaysfor 30 Iraqi women.
• –Meetings andworkshops with Iraqi families on issues of inclusion and parenting to accompany a process of integration into the community.
• – Psychological and clinical screening of children with special needs and the referral of children’s families to territorial social health services to be addressed.

• – Psycho-educational workshops for Iraqi children.

Already in 2021, more than 70 teachers have been trained, health education meetings have been held for 30 women, and workshops and meetings have been held for some 30 families and their children.

But much remains to be done to help Iraqi children in Amman, especially those with special needs: help us stand by them and leave no one behind.
