Ministry of Agriculture and Habibi Valtiberina Association Sign MoU to Strengthen Rural Development

Amman, March 26 – The Ministry of Agriculture and Habibi Valtiberina Association have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to promote rural development, empower women, and create job opportunities for youth. The collaboration focuses on improving agricultural stations, strengthening the olive oil supply chain, and developing expertise in high-value cheese production.  

The agreement outlines clear coordination efforts to ensure the successful implementation of programs benefiting rural communities. A key initiative is the launch of a specialized Italian cheese production training for 15 women at Al Walah Station, supported by an Italian expert and the installation of essential equipment. Additionally, the partnership will introduce high-quality seeds from Italy, including varieties for producing Pesto, to enhance crop diversity and quality.  

“This partnership is a testament to our shared commitment to fostering sustainable agriculture and improving livelihoods,” said a representative from the Ministry of Agriculture. “Through targeted training and resource allocation, we aim to create meaningful change in rural communities.”  

The signing of this MoU aligns with the National Plan for Sustainable Agriculture and Jordan’s Economic Modernization Vision, which focus on enhancing the quality and competitiveness of Jordanian olive oil in global markets and developing new skills in dairy and cheese production. These efforts will benefit rural communitiesgovernorates, and halal industries, ensuring long-term economic impact in key agricultural sectors.  

The MoU is set for an initial duration of one year, with the possibility of renewal, as both parties remain committed to boosting food securityincreasing employment opportunities, and supporting sustainable agricultural practices.
